Worcestershire Promotes Itself As A Fantastic Filming Location

A new Film Office has been launched in Worcestershire aiming to attract more filmmakers, production companies and the creative support industries, in a bid to promote the area as a great filming location. The project is being led by location managers FAME Pro with the support of Visit Worcestershire. The launch of the area's first-ever Film Office took place on Thursday, June 29 at Avoncroft Museum.

The new service will act as a one-stop-shop to all filming requirements in Worcestershire, working with local authorities, locations and suppliers to ensure the correct permits are in place and that the production runs as smoothly as possible. With more productions filming in the area, it will give a much-needed boost to the economy in Worcestershire as the publicity will create more visitor interest.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, cabinet member for economy, infrastructure and skills at Worcestershire County Council, said: “I am delighted that this new project has been launched to support film production in Worcestershire. The new initiative will help increase the profile of the county as a film-friendly destination, creating further economic benefits for local suppliers and supporting our existing network of creative industries generating further opportunities.”

Kelly Mikulla, managing director of Worcestershire Film Office, said: “What a fantastic event, we are so excited to be working with our colleagues and clients in Worcestershire. A huge thank you to all of the team who have helped to put this together and to those who attended.” She continued with: “It was a real pleasure to put names to faces and I hope we will build a strong foundation together, working to showcase all of the stunning locations Worcestershire has to offer.”

Worcestershire Film Office is currently working on a directory of filming locations in the county, ranging from historic heritage sites to more industrial settings such as warehouses and factory units.
