Liam Neeson plays the fictional detective Philip Marlowe in this upcoming crime noir from director Neil Jordan.

Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe is a literary detective with real pedigree, who caught the public imagination during the era of film noirs. The character has popped up in the movies from time to time too, with luminaries like Bogart, Mitchum, Garner and Elliot Gould all portraying the private eye throughout the decades.

And now, Liam Neeson will join the previous actors who have played Philip Marlow in this upcoming crime noir ‘Marlowe’ based on The Black-Eyed Blonde, a Philip Marlowe novel that is written by John Banville (and authorised by the Chandler estate).

Synopsis:
‘Set in late 1930s Bay City, a down-on-his-luck Marlowe is hired to find the ex-lover of a glamorous heiress (Diane Kruger), daughter of a well-known movie star (Jessica Lange).’

Other cast members include Danny Huston, Alan Cumming, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ian Hart, Colm Meaney, Daniela Melchior and Francois Arnaud.

The film will be released next month.
