A franchise rooted in the US, it’s a first venture onto British soil for Ghostbusters, and the thus-far unnamed instalment has been filming sequences in the UK, prior to the rest of the shoot in New York.

This film follows the success of ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ which grossed more than $200 million worldwide back in 2021. The co-writers of that film Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman have also penned the script for the 5th film in the franchise with Gil Kenan also directing.

It's been reported by Deadline that Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace and Paul Rudd are returning and new additions confirmed last week include Emily Alyn Lind, Patton Oswalt, Kamil Nanjiani and James Acaster.

Sony has confirmed a release date of December 20th 2023.
