Jodie Comer has come along way since she first started her career with guest appearances on shows like ‘Holby City’, ‘Waterloo Road’, and ‘Doctors’. It’s no surprise that Hollywood came knocking after her standout performances in the TV show she is best known for, ‘Killing Eve’. Prior to landing this lead roll in a major Hollywood production, Jodie Comer had momentarily appeared in ’Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ as Rey’s mother, so this really is a huge leap for the British actress.

'Free Guy' features Ryan Reynolds as a bank teller named Guy, who one day realises he’s a non-playable character in a popular online video game called Free City. While Guy is mostly interested in using his newfound awareness to win the heart of the fellow Free City player he’s fallen in love with, 'Molotov Girl' Millie (Jodie Comer), he soon finds himself in the middle of a game development conspiracy that could ultimately lead to Free City’s shutdown and the end of his world.

Film fanatics have described the movie as The Truman Show combined with The Matrix, with just a dash of They Live and Total Recall. It also gives a nod to various video games including Grand Theft Auto, Fortnite and Halo.

“Free Guy’ has been released in cinemas across the UK today.
